Talky Bird app interface
User’s pronunciation compare to native speaker’s evaluating graph
Talky Bird (https://talkybird.com/) most special feature is that it uses voice recognition technology to evaluate user’s pronunciation. This technology is built on the synthesis of Japanese language and voice practice. Thus, the score scale (100 points) is almost the standard for pronunciation and intonation of learners. According to that, after the user pronounces, the application will analyze and evaluate with criteria such as content, altitude with that of the native speaker. Learners will also receive a visual and graphical comparison of their scores and useful advice.
Based on these features, this technology can help learners be more active in practicing Japanese communication. Users will feel like they are learning directly with native speakers. Besides, it is absolutely free. Just a smart device (phone, tablet) with an Internet connection ..., users can practice Japanese communication, even in remote places. Recently, it is a trial version. In the near future, this application is expected to allow you to improve your pronunciation whenever you want, instead of taking a seat in a class, language center or waiting long for the teacher to correct it as a traditional way of learning.
Talky Bird is designated for users who have a Japanese level of N4 or above with the desire to improve their communication. Lessons are divided into two categories, including Japanese for everyday communication (asking for directions, buying at the store, etc.) and Japanese for communicating at working place (introduction, getting to know people, etc.).
Mr. Hiroaki Ishida, Project Manager, said: "During the process of recruiting students to work in Japan, we found that they are still having difficulty communicating in Japanese. This is a big disadvantage if you want to interview or work in Japanese companies. Also, to improve their pronunciation, they will need a Japanese teacher, but the cost would be very high and there will not be enough teachers in Vietnam. We have researched and developed the application, expecting people to communicate Japanese confidently, increase the ability to find job opportunities in Japanese companies. Previously, from 2014, we started cooperation with universities in Vietnam and brought more than 1000 students to work in Japan. Here they have the opportunity to live in the Japanese environment, communicate and work with the Japanese. "
User Nguyen Thi Minh Hang (Hanoi) said: "Like many Vietnamese studying foreign languages, I’m fine with grammar, vocabulary but am quite poor in speaking. Sometimes when I say something and people don’t understand. I find this application very useful, it's free, and there are vivid videos that also help me speak in Japanese accent!
The name “Talky Bird” or "chatty bird" is inspired by the pheasant - the symbolic bird of Japan. Recently, this product is only for iOS (iPhone users). It is expected that, in 2019, they would launch the Android version. In the future, Framgia's programming team intends to add new functions such as conversational training with AI Chatbot at higher levels and vocabulary training for beginners.
